The tonal range on this 4x5 sheet is exactly what I remember from the classic Tri-X look—grain structure is pleasing and holds up beautifully in the highlights. Loaded a fresh box and the emulsion handled some harsh midday light without blowing out, which was a pleasant surprise.
Shot four sheets at box speed under mixed overcast light and the midtones came out exactly like the classic Tri-X look I remember. Highlights held detail nicely while shadows stayed printable, and the 4x5 size cut down cleanly in the darkroom.
The grain structure on this 4x5 sheet is gorgeous — fine enough for sharp enlargements but with that classic Tri-X character I love. Shot a few frames in flat mid-day light and the midtones held up beautifully.
