Rolfei werd opgericht in 1920 en staat bekend om zijn topklasse Rolleiflex- en Rolleicord-middenformaatcamera's. Het bedrijf produceert geen camera's meer; MACO is nu de licentiehouder van de Rollei-merklijn, waaronder een reeks zwart-witfilms. De films van Rollei variëren van 25 ISO panchromatische fijnkorrelige film tot andere filmtypen zoals de bijna-infrarood 400 ISO en de ultra-scherpe Ortho Plus 25 ISO orthochromatische film.

Rollei INFRARED is een hyper-panchromatische zwart-witfilm met een nominale gevoeligheid van ISO 200-400 tot in het infraroodbereik (650 – 750nm). Bij gebruik met een infraroodfilter kan het karakteristieke "infrarood"-effect worden bereikt, waardoor het ideaal is voor wetenschappelijke toepassingen of zeer creatieve landschapsfotografie. 

Zonder infraroodfilter werkt het als een gewone, hogegevoelige zwart-witfilm met hoog oplossend vermogen, fijne korrel en hoge randscherpte. Het is gecoat op een heldere PET-filmbasis, waardoor het ook zeer geschikt is om te ontwikkelen als dia met de juiste chemicaliën.

Shooting at f/8 with the red filter I got that classic IR glow on foliage without any halation issues, even on a bright afternoon. The 120 roll curled a bit in the tank but the negatives came out perfectly flat after drying. Already ordered two more rolls for my Rolleicord.
