ULTRAMAX 400 Color Negative Film, 35mm

Picked up a roll for a beach trip and the sharp detail on the distant waves was honestly surprising for a 400-speed film. The vivid color saturation made the sand and sea look almost too good to be true. Definitely my go-to for mixed lighting now.

Bright colors pop even in mid-afternoon shade, and the grain stays tight enough for sharp prints at 4x6. Just finished a roll at a family picnic with mixed sun and clouds, and every frame came back with that rich, saturated look I was hoping for.

I’ve shot this in uneven light—overcast mornings, harsh midday sun—and every frame held onto detail without getting muddy. The grain stayed fine even when I pushed it a stop, and the saturation made my skin tones look natural, not overdone.
